What are your favourite places to walk around or escape to in Johannesburg? I have a few but by far one of my all time favourites is the .
I’m no art critic but I think Circa always has some of the best exhibitions in Johannesburg and even if it didn’t the architecture would still be enough to keep me coming back time and time again. 
The building was designed by StudioMAS who have quite a few beautiful projects under their belt. The best part of the gallery is a part that not many know about, the roof. I used to work a block away and I would go to the roof and eat my lunch almost everyday, I still do it when I have time just because it’s so beautiful, quiet and unexpected. 
Once you’ve taken an amble through the beautiful artworks keep going up and you will be greeted by a beautifully decorated rooftop lounge with a view all the way to Northcliff hill, they even have a fire in winter. It’s quite wonderful to feel so at home in a public space.
When I visited Circa they were having an exhibition by Tamlin Blake who known for her mixed media work, this exhibition was a set of incredibly hand crafted pieces woven with paper!
