I love reading blogs, it’s been one of my favourite things to do since I was a teenager and I love how they’ve evolved over time with the introduction of Youtube and Instagram…even saying that makes me feel old.
Anyways! I have a couple blogs that I make a point of checking at least once a week so I thought I would share them with you. My list is really long but I’ve picked out a couple of my favourites, I’ll do another post soon with my other favourites! Have fun getting to know these amazing local bloggers, bloggers and creatives … in no particular order:
Keagan and Greg are the husband and wife team behind Gold Creatures, a blog with such beautiful images it will make you want to repeatedly slap yourself in the face! Most of Gold Creatures is entered around fashion and photography for both men and women so boy’s you’ll like this one too! Keagan has also just started a vlog so be sure to check it out.
Okay so Calvyn is an Olympic Swimmer, he surfs and By Jove he’s handsome. Calvyn kills it on the vlogging scene and regularly uploads videos of his adventures that include his travels, a whole lot of swimming and sometimes almost falling of roofs. Check out his Youtube account and be sure to subscribe.
Tails Of A Mermaid is one of the first blogs I remember stumbling accross. Natalie has been killing it on the scene for ages and her blog just gets better with time! Tails Of A Mermaid focuses on travel, especially in the Western Cape. Natalie has the funniest way of explaining things, if you want an extra dose of laughs you can catch her Instagram stories here.
Emma Jane is the face, the voice and the vision behind the beautiful blog – My Life In Pink. Emma Jane is a model and stylist based in Cape Town and London, her blog is filled with incredible fashion inspiration, recipes and her amazing dog! Follow her on Snapchat for healthy recipes and snapshots of her travels – emmamenteath
Remember when I spoke about Instagram like I was 100 years old? Yoliswa runs her blog in the form of her curated and tasteful Instagram account. Her images are almost as beautiful as she is in real life but more importantly her captions are always really inspiring! Get your ass over there right now.
Like Tails Of A Mermaid, I’ve been following Emma Jane’s blog for ages! Emma has an incredible knack for storytelling and is an incredible photographer (she’s also one half of Land and Lass). If her blog wasn’t enough to satisfy your blogging needs her Instagram account will…get ready for your jaw to drop over her incredible apartment!
When I watch any of Chris’s I honestly want to sell everything I own, pack up my business and just surf and hang out on a beach for the rest of my life. Chris has an incredible knack for making you want to go everywhere he goes…and boy does he go a lot of places. Check out the Yatch Week Video, you can thank me later.
I discovered Anthony Bila’s photography years and years ago and I’ve been a fan ever since. It’s incredible to see how his work has transformed and developed into his own raw style. Do yourself a favour and take a minute to step into his world.
I started reading The Truffle Journal and my kitchen has never been the same. Melissa Delport is an incredible chef and photographer and she will make you want to eat and cook until you burst. The Truffle Journal really is an endless stream of delicious recipes and new places to try out. Melissa uploads incredible stories to her Instagram account every day of all the restaurant she visits…get ready to drool!
Like Yoliswa, Lulama Wolf runs her microblog through Instagram and has single-handedly been the driving force behind the over use of my credit card. Her style is clean, tailored and largely centred around local designers. Check out more of her style on her account here.
When a blogger starts her own eyelash brand AND continues to run one of the countries most awesome blogs! Aqeelah documents her style, travel and beauty tips in her own unique way and sometimes I just find myself staring at her incredible lashes…I’m not creepy just wait till you see them! Follow her stories for behind the scenes of her cute kitty!
The Travel Manuel is one of my favourite local travel blogs, it’s simple, easy to navigate and gives you concise information about some pretty incredible places AND it’s run by a really lovely husband and wife team. If you’re a parent you’ll also find The Travel Manuel really helpful as they often travel with their bundle of joy…who is too cute for words!
If there was a crown for blogging in SA Aisha would probably wear it. It’s so awesome to see how her blog has developed from a passion to a fully fledged business and beyond. Her style is always flawless and even better she’s as loyal to her readers as they are to her. Check out her Snapchat account for candid peaks into her life – AishaBakerXO
I’ve been lucky to meet Dawn a couple times on some blogger trips and she’s one of those people that makes your soul happy! The Incidental Tourist is centred around conscious travel and everything that goes with it. Dawn’s writing has the ability to make you feel like you’re smack bang in the middle of an African Desert or sipping on a glass in the Winelands.
