Remember when your best bet at a half decent meal meant braving Mugg & Bean or News Cafe? Thank goodness times have changed! I love that it feels like more and more independent coffee shops, cafes and restaurants are popping up in Joburg on a regular basis. You can have your pick of boutique, beautiful decorated cafes and coffee shops that pride themselves on craftsmanship and have never and will never serve fake whipped cream ontop of their cappuccinos!

Naked Kitchen has become a favourite of mine since first discovering it about a month or so ago. I’m not sure if it’s their  It’s jade green tables finished off with bronze, incredibly friendly staff…or their banana bread, I just can’t get enough.

You’ll find Naked Kitchen near the Woolworths entrance at Morningside Shopping Centre, I know what you’re thinking, why would I go eat in a shopping centre? Don’t worry Naked Kitchen faces the outside of the centre, is filled with natural light and has a constant stream of fresh air. While coffee is their ‘thing’ their food is right up there with some of the best in town. Try their Avo on toast or fresh Banana Bread, or if you want to try the crème de la crème of what’s on offer you have to dig into their Maple Syrup Oats and Roast Banana, it’s so good and it’s actually good for you! Head chef Sasha Simpson has made it her mission to keep filling our bellies with new fresh flavours and I can’t wait to see what the add to the menu as Naked Kitchen grows.

If you’re not keen on ordering something off of the menu, Naked Kitchen also has a hearty stock of baked goods and a fantastic looking deli counter/harvest table which I’ll be trying out soon.
