I’ve been a little nervous to share this with you guys because it’s so very different from anything I’ve done before. It’s very dark, very male and just plain not what I’m used to. Having said that I’m so incredibly proud with how a little conversation from a few months ago developed into a beautiful set of images.
Like I said, this shoot has been a long time coming. A few months ago I bumped into Jordan (our handsome model) at an event and we decided on the spot that we needed to do a shoot together, and when I pitched to Sheena (one of my favourite stylists in the whole wide world) that she style…the rest, as they say, is history!
Besides being a nice human being and having seriosuly good hair, Sheena is such an incredible stylist. I knew that I wanted to go in the 70’s direction because of Jordan’s look, but she developed the concept even further. She was inspired by Gucci and the incredibly beautiful floral suits we’ve been seeing rolling down their runways. Somehow Sheena managed to find the most insane pieces and put them together to make these rad outfits, using women’s clothing for most of them. I feel pretty bad for the guys out there, their options are so limited compared to us women who have a million and one ways to express ourselves.
Once I had an image in my mind of what Sheena was going for I found an old…and pretty weird salon in Linden to shoot in. The salon is pretty much a time capsule from the 70’s, from the browning YOU magazines sitting on the floor the the ancient hair dryers, I loved everything about the look of the place ….and so ‘All The Pretty Things’ was born.
