If you’ve booked a holiday overseas recently chances are the name Airbnb came up at least once. Airbnb has been up and running since 2008 and is a community run market placed for people to list, discover, and book unique accommodations around the world — online or from a mobile phone or tablet, what’s great about Airbnb is that it’s pretty affordable and give you a locals insight into the area you are visiting. I’ve become obsessed with looking through reams of apartments all over the world. After a few weeks of doing this I couldn’t help but wonder what Johannesburg had to offer. After much deliberation I’ve found what I think are the prettiest, and most convenient Airbnb spots to stay in Johannesburg.
Here are Five Amazing places to stay on Airbnb in Johannesburg:
Spend some time in the heart of the Maboneng Precinct, a vibrant neighbourhood on the east side of Johannesburg inner-city. The light house ( Relay “Situations Space Program”) forms part of Curiocity Backpackers and is located on top of The Main Change Building, a former industrial building reconverted into offices, retail and cultural spaces. the space offers a 360 degree view of the city – Kitchen -Bedroom-outdoor shower & bathroom. 2. A Couch Downtown
Positioned in the urban Banking District of Africa’s most bustling city, this apartment boasts amazing views, great inner city experiences and rich history. Only four Blocks from Nelson Mandela’s first office and two blocks from Africa’s tallest building.3. Brixton Residence
The unit has one en-suite bedroom with a bed, as well as an additional bathroom. There is also a furnished lounge and a well-equipped kitchen. 4. Remed’s View Apartment
This three bedroom apartment is located at Remed’s View a former industrial building reconverted into residential, retail and cultural spaces. Enjoy the urban culture of the Maboneng Precinct, there are cinema, galleries, a museum, markets and tours. 5. Modern Apartment in Hyde Park
The apartment is modern and comfortable. It is a lock up and go apartment on the 2nd floor in an upmarket Hyde Park apartment complex. The apartment is central so getting to various places in and around Johannesburg is easy. It is also in walking distance to the Gautrain bus service so getting around Johannesburg on the bus and to the Gautrain Station & airport is also convenient.
Just as a side note, I haven’t stayed in any of these places, my observations have been made on their ratings, location and just how rad they look.
