Joburg is so full of so many people doing so many amazing things it actually makes my heart feel all mushy! One of these amazing creatives is a lovely woman called Kirsten Townsend. Kirsten is so creative and has so many projects on the go I kinda wanna slap her for making us all look bad. Okay jokes, but for real she’s the brains behind Fabrica, she’s a freelance designer and now she’s just opened up the most beautiful space in Kramerville called Gathere.
First and foremost Gathere is a coworking space but it’s also a workshop, gallery, events space and studio. The majority of the space is dedicated to private offices (which are available to rent if you’re looking for a space) and then ‘hot desks’ for coworkers/day to day visitors. Kirsten’s eye for design is everywhere from the double volume ceilings to the awesome booth style desk spaces, and of course a few beautiful pieces from her Fabrica project. Coworking starts at R150 for a half-day drop in.
The rest of the space is split into a gallery space and a fully functioning studio. The gallery space is currently housing an exhibition on by Fausto Becatti featuring portraits and scenes from his travels. The studio is beautifully lit by natural light and has an infinity curve but if you require any extra gear you’ll have to bring it in yourself. Studio hire starts from R1500 for a half day.
I think it’s also pretty important to mention that Gathere also has a really beautiful kitchen, because let’s be honest the best part of any work day is lunch!
I’m giving away a one month membership and three day passes to four lucky freelancers, head on over to my Facebook Page to enter or comment below on what you do and what you would use the space for!
