Hi there. Somehow it’s the middle of February, there are Easter Eggs on the shelves and it feels like I should already be gearing down for winter. Even though the shopfronts are telling us it’s knitwear season IT’S NOT! Remember last year when I promised to do a better job of showcasing local designers? Well, a promise is a promise. Meet Mala Me.
I met , the needle behind Mala Me (what feels like) a million years ago when I shot some pictures for Living Yoga her studio based in Craighall. Since then she’s added designer to her achievements. For now, Mala Me has a really breezy range of jumpsuits, dresses and kimonos, all of which are made from the most beautiful Indian Sari silk that Sarah discovered on her travels. I shot the lovely Sheena Bagshawe in two different looks from the range towards the end of last year, it’s definitely worth for a different take on Mala Me.
Jumpsuits are my go-to for most formal events and this jumpsuit has become a firm favourite of mine over the past couple months, I get to dress up without really having to wear a full-on ball gown. I’ve worn my jumpsuit to a couple of events AND on our Bali holiday in January and it fitted perfectly into both settings!
You can find Mala Me at Living Yoga in Johannesburg or message directly for more details on her pieces. If you have a local brand that you want to share mail me at .
