What happens when two people who love Joburg find a block of empty warehouses in Joburg?The Sheds @1Fox thats what. 1 Fox is the lovechild of (my hero) and Jan Roodeand will develop into a hub of restaurants, shops, offices and venues over the next few years.For some time now I’ve been walking past The Sheds and watching them develop from a set of derelict empty warehouses to what I believe is fast become Joburg’s favourite market…and it’s only been open for a week.

The Sheds So what makes The Sheds different from any other typical Joburg market? Well for one you could fit Arts on Main and Neighbourgoods into a corner of The Sheds, it’s huge, which means no shoving and no getting someones hair in your hollandaise sauce as you try to squeeze past in search of a table. Oh yes, that’s another thing there are so many tables to pick from you will never be left holding your newly made waffle awkwardly as you try to eat it standing up.

The market will also eventually be open everyday of the week, delicious shopping and food everyday of the week, yum! Although there is a lovely bar section to the market the overall vibe seems more family orientated and a little more relaxed than some of it’s counterparts.

For now you can every Thursday to Sunday, trading from 10:00 – 18:00.
