No this is not a review of the band The National, it’s a review of the tasty restaurant that just opened a block away from my new apartment.
The National has just been opened by the same team behind Coobs, which off the bat made it one of my favourite restaurants in town with. Like Coobs The National prides itself on fresh ingredients straight from the farm (literally).
I walked from my apartment (If you’re driving you can find it at 19 4th Avenue in Parktown North) to the restaurant in an effort to be a little healthier and get away from my computer for a little so I decided to go with a light starter and main.
I’ve also started cutting meat out of my diet more and more because I just feel better if I eat less of it, as a result I’ve been eating more and more tofu. Some tofu has been good, some has been bad, the tofu The National was great. I had a Coriander and Chilli Crispy Fried Tofu bowl with Glass Noodles, Crunch Organic Veg and coconut Lemongrass Broth (R90) and for starters I had the Coriander infused Corn Hotcakes with Wasabi Mayo and Salsa (R55).
